The attached coffee shop is good.
I have been enjoying this place since I was very young and would come in with my Dad for a hot chocolate while he enjoyed a delicious hot espresso beverage. However, as I have gotten older I had finally realized that I had been missing out on an amazing invention---COFFEE! Since my coffee obsession began I have been coming to visit Ankeny's for my daily fix of caffeine. The people here are absolutely amazing and take the time to ask you about your day and engage in warm conversation. The Ankeny's and the employees that work here are always smiling and make you feel welcome as soon as you pass through their front door. Not only is the staff friendly but they have such a wide variety of latte flavors that put Starbucks and Caribou Coffee to shame. They have so many fun and unique nick-nacks to look at while you sip on a delicious caffeinated beverage including some of the owner's handmade wood carvings and local Blue Earth history. However, they don't just have espresso or coffee to drink but they have a variety of ice cream flavors and non-caffeinated beverages as well. This will forever be my favorite place to relax and enjoy a delicious cup of caffeine.
Quality crafted new and antique furniture, as well as kick-butt coffee & ice cream! Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Family owned for generations.... true blue American and Minnesotan proud! If you have time to chat with owner Mr. Ankeny himself (and he's always ready for a chat!), he can fill you in on current events, the history of the store back to the 1800s, the history of the town, and if you drink enough coffee you might find out he knows the history of the world.... According to Bruce anyway ;-)
